Baby you can drive my car

One day I decided to get Gretchen a little car to scoot around on.  My favorite consignment shop had only one there, and it was perfect!  A pink and purple Cadillac Escalade, complete with funky music, and other car sounds.  She loves it!  It's actually quite big for her, but she likes to sit on it and push the buttons (especially with her toes--I think she thinks she's a monkey).

You can kind of make out the two teeth in this shot.  We took Gretchen to see fireworks on the 4th.  She was awake until they started, and then promptly fell asleep for the entire show.  She seemed to enjoy all of the illegal fireworks that we could see around us before she fell asleep.  We went to a small town near us for the show, and it was really good.  We accidentally ended up getting a spot on the lawn less than 50 yards from where they lit the fireworks, so we got the added excitement of being able to see the guys scurrying around lighting them and jumping out of the way.

In case you were wondering, I can see one point of a top tooth coming in, so even though she was a bit slow to get her first tooth she's making up for lost time now.

In other news, after a very slow start, the berries have begun to show themselves, which means another summer of jamming.  So far Becca and I have made strawberry-rhubarb jam and strawberry freezer jam.  Next up is raspberry, assuming the crops are in this weekend.  I have lots of grand plans for other preserving, fermenting, and such, but we'll see how much I get done this year.
