Trespassing

I totally trespassed on the new property over the weekend.  It's vacant or I wouldn't have done so.  I drove a friend by the place and saw something horribly disturbing.  The in ground oil tank was decommissioned, so they had an above ground tank put in.  We'll change our heat source over to natural gas soon, but there has to be heat in the meantime.  Anyway, this is what I could see from the street.  I'm not too familiar with oil tanks, but the ones I've seen in the past have not looked like this.  I would think all of the rust might mean that the tank is in some way compromised as well, which may not be good.So I went to investigate some more.  I'm really happy that the "new" oil tank will be letting people know not to park on the side lawn.  It is confusing to know where to park--do I choose the enormous driveway, or the lawn?  The best thing about it all is that the guy who installed the tank also gave the seller's realtor a bid to pass on to us for the conversion of the house to gas.  Yup, he's the first person I would trust with that job.
I sent these to our Realtor (who's on vacation just when I need him!  I guess he can have a life.) and he forwarded them on to his oil tank guy for more info.  I'm really hoping something else is in place by the time we sign papers on Thursday.

Otherwise the weekend was good times.  Gretchen enjoyed her first swimming lesson.  We got there early and watched the swimmers.  She was getting so excited watching everyone that she was about jumping out of my arms.  The lesson involved a number of songs that every parent but me knew.  They must have gotten some guidebook to kids that I have yet to see.  I felt like I was experiencing some cult gathering.  After the lesson Gretchen was so tired she was in a deep sleep on the entire ride home--very unlike her.

Okay- I totally don't understand the oil tank story. But I like the pictures.
And I MUST see a photo of little Gretchkin in her swimsuit, please and thank you.

It seems like the busier you get, the more you post. I was astonished to see not one but two new posts since I left work on Friday. Yep, exercise is GREAT for kids--uses up all their energy and makes them sleep. I loved to see summer for that very reason.

Sorry for being confusing, I've become sleep deprived (the 5 am waking time is taking a toll--when is it that kids start to realize weekends are for sleeping in anyway?) and I probably don't make any sense most of the time. I hope you never have to deal with oil tanks. Both of our home purchases have involved decommissioning in-ground oil tanks. It shouldn't be complicated because it's so standard out here, but apparently we're dealing with some people who don't mind being shady. Bleck.

I need to get someone to go swimming with us some day so we can get some photos of Gretchen in the pool. It's just too cute!
Sounds like an entirely different experience from the one we had together in Strasbourg. Remember that? We managed to have a good time, despite the chaos, the dressing room mess and the lack of singing. Heh! heh!

And be careful when you're signing, eh? How odd. One little question: How is it that you missed that thing on your other visits?!

The nasty rusty tank was a new thing as of last weekend, so it wasn't there when we looked at the house any of the other times. Don't worry, our eyes were working just fine. It was the current owner trying to get away with a cheap fix. I'm just glad I drove by and saw it! I was happy to see them removing the nasty thing this morning. I'm not too worried that they've done anything else shady.

Ah, okay, I understand, now. That's so weird, though! What were they thinking?!

Sorry to be so behind on your blog! The only time I took Evie to the library story time she was around a year old, and every parent knew all the songs, and it disturbed me so much that I never went back. They also gave me a thick booklet of songs as I left, for some extra studying. Probably wouldn't bother me so much now, but at the time -- SCARY!
