Tired

I'm tired.  I rarely put photos of myself up here, so I thought I'd pick a particularly unattractive day to do so.  This morning it looked like someone had punched me in both eyes.  Nope, just tired.  I'm lucky though, I made it through the first six months of Gretchen without feeling too tired, or too tired for too long.  The past month or so has been a downhill slide to complete exhaustion.  We threw everything off kilter with the move.  What were we thinking?  Oh, right, more space inside and out.  It will be worth it once we're settled in.

Last night I wasn't keeping an eye on the clock and all of a sudden it was 9:00 and Gretchen was still awake.  That didn't work out so well.  She was so tired, but she couldn't fall asleep for a really long time, despite her favorite falling asleep activity of slapping herself on the top of her head.  I think we need to find a new falling asleep activity, but that is beside the point.  I guess we'll have to start working on a more consistent routine.  We're still learning here.

The good news is that we have heat as of this afternoon!  Yay!  Don had to mention the name of our good friend, Andy, who works for the gas company in order to get it finished today, but what's life without a little name dropping?  We'll have to thank Andy for having a good reputation among his co-workers.  Some of you may not need heat any longer, but we're going back and forth between winter and spring around here.

Get your sleep folks.  Sleep a little extra for me.

Oooh... Yeah. I wouldn't mind being able to tell you that I have no idea what you're talking about in the areas of (extreme) parental fatigue and finding the search for a routine. Luckily, all of the people who've no doubt been telling you that it'll get easier, that the routine will be rediscovered, etc are (to a great extent, at any rate) right. Hang in there!

By the way, for someone with Extreme (Parental) Fatigue Syndrome, or E(P)FS, you're looking mighty lovely!

And is it backwards day at the office? or is your interior designer of a quirkily eclectic bent?

And lastly, we are once again having a parallel season to yours: winter-spring-winter-spring and so on. Today seems springy, but I ain't making any bets, yet...

sorry, sweetie, but I had to smile when I saw your picture. We have pictures of you as a teenager with a very similar expression on your face, only then the meaning was different. Remember, when we get to Oregon, our mission is to take care of you and Anne. Here it's been around 30 degrees the last few nights--so cold that your dad has had trouble sleeping! (since we are also too cheap to turn the heat on)

Maybe a bit tired around the eyes, but did you have some botox in those lips? Lovely.
And I have to agree with your mom...the withering look is not unfamiliar.
I, also, made the mistake of keeping my kids up too late last night...and why does it always have the reverse effect of making them wake up earlier??!?!
Yeah to the 'withering look' comments, except that the eyes in those pictures betrayed the meaning. Heh! heh!
Dna s'tahw pu htiw eht ylcilbup dedoc gnigassem, Mram?
And Ellen, I hope you all take good advantage of the grandparental presence. Looks like this visit came just at the right moment!

I kind of noticed the backwards images yesterday, but I didn't put it together that that was strange. I took the photo with photobooth and it must have reversed the image. I kind of like backward world.
