Travels

Gretchen and I took our first trip--to see Don's family out east. I was a little apprehensive about flying with her, but she turned out to be a champ. She slept the entire time on the plane both ways (I wish I could say the same thing). She even dealt well with our 3+ hour delay on the way home that got us in at about 2:00 am Tuesday.

It was a great trip. We saw all of Don's family, starting out on the island with his sisters, mom and his nieces and nephews. Then we took a trip upstate to meet his grandfather and uncle. Being passed around so much seems to have mellowed Gretchen out.

The morning we left Don's Grandpa's house the local firehouse was having a pancake breakfast and Grandpa was the Toast Master. He toasted and buttered the bread. It was a great meal!

The little girl got a taste of daycare today. So did I, I guess. We're doing a few half days before I go back to work so that she gets used to everyone at daycare, and I get used to being away from her. She did really well. She even took a nap! She has not been a good napper, and usually only does if she's strapped to my body in a wrap or carrier. Not only did she nap, but she was still napping when I picked her up and continued to nap for our walk home and about 15 more minutes after we got home. It was crazy! I had a feeling she would be a different baby for the babysitter. I'm afraid my child is already changing faster than I can keep up with. She's even starting to accept the bottle more readily. I'm just glad she seems to be in good hands at the daycare--it makes it much easier to face the reality of going back to work.
