Another weekend in the recent past brought a visit from the parents. They arrived on Dad's birthday, May 9th. We had a nice dinner over at Anne's, and enjoyed the Evie show. The rest of the week until Saturday was a good amount of getting together and eating. A few of my favorite things.
Saturday I somehow roped my parents into helping me work on the front yard. I wouldn't usually ask people to do manual labor for me, but I knew I wouldn't get it done this year if I didn't enlist some help. We started off with an enormous breakfast at one of my favorite spots, and then headed over to the farmer's market for a lovely stroll and much buying of good food. Then we were off to a friend's plant sale to buy things for the front yard.

The parents did all of the hard work digging up the garden area and planting the plants, while I trimmed some bushes. We also put together a glider for the new patio area. Now when I'm huge this summer I can sit in the shade of the front yard and glide away. I love it. Don was impressed that our yard can actually look somewhat decent. He says I've been telling him for 5 years that I would do something out there. I think he was hearing things.
The weekend ended with Mother's Day. I kept having to tell people that I'm not actually a mother, though they all seem to insist that I am. I am simply a host for a parasite. I'm happy to be a mother when it is born, but for now I'd like to still be able to be irresponsible and just a host.

Anyway, we had a pretty relaxing day with breakfast and lunch at our house, followed by a walk through the neighborhood park, some swinging (E was having fun directing people on the swinging), ice cream, dinner at Anne's, and a game of Fluxx. Anyone out there play Fluxx? You should. It's good times.
