Brownies

This has been a fun filled spring with the Brownies.

We spent an afternoon at the local amusement park riding the rides. I have to let you know that there were tears shed after the big slide. Apparently it was a little frightening when one of the sack mats took off ahead of one of the girls. First graders can be very emotional.

A few weeks later we went back to the same amusement park to go rollerskating. I freaked all of the mothers out by rollerskating with the girls. They asked me what if I fell down on my stomach. I guess that it could happen that I would fall only on my stomach and somehow cause great harm to my unborn child who at the time was basically swimming it it's own huge ocean padded on all sides by lots of fluid, but I was willing to take the chance. I'm afraid Gone with the Wind has really scared some women into thinking that you can lose a baby by falling. Luckily nothing bad happened. Actually, I don't think anything bad could have happened because our girls were mostly moving less than one mile per hour clutching the walls out of terror. I could have sworn I got some photos of the event, especially of the 50-something skating instructor in her hot pink lycra skating outfit. I loved it! I hope someday I am brave enough to venture out in public in hot pink lycra. Perhaps I can work that into some incident that scars my child for life. Oh the possibilities.

A couple weeks ago the girls attended a bridging ceremony that was council wide. Two of our girls are flying up to Juniors, so we went support them. The ceremony consisted of walking across the river on one of the many bridges downtown.

I'm going to have to give up Brownies next year since too much will be in flux in the fall. Who knows, maybe I can pick it up again the next year once we're a little more settled around here.

Maybe you'll be having a little Brownie of your own soon! Whats before Brownies these days? Daisies? I could totally see you as a troop mom! I'm still trying to get over my concerns with boyscouts and homophobia (on the part of the scouting heads, not myself). I'd love Henry to be a scout, but can't see endorsing an intolerent group! Help me with this, since you're all 'on the inside'.
