I've decided to take a break from my totally consuming job and fill you in on my exciting adventures of the past few weeks. I might even say earth shattering adventures. Yup. (That might be a clue to stop where you are and go off to read some other blog.)
Today I woke up and the ground was pretty clear--a bit of snow on my car, but nothing on the ground. A short while later Franklin wanted to go outside, and this is what I found:
The rare snowfall! Yay! (Franklin reconsidered going outside until it became an urgent situation.) I was surprised that much of the snow was still on the ground at our house when I got home. Some nice ice too. It's supposed to be pretty cold for a few days. Of course, nothing like a typical midwest winter, but then I don't think it's been a typical midwest winter, so maybe it's not so bad there right now.
This photo leads me to a bit of holiday news. As usually happens when my parents visit, we learned that my camry needed a good amount of work. Since we had done a good amount of work to the car already this year, we decided to look into a new car. So Christmas weekend we went to the dealer and came out 4 hours later with a brand new Prius. That's it in the driveway. I love it! It is so fun to drive, and very roomy despite it's narrowness. Plus, it has a hatchback, so we can put the back seat down and cart the dogs around without ruining the seat. Here's my camry on her last day
with us. Ahh, the good old days.
Besides buying a new car, the holidays were mighty nice around here. Barb and Larry came for a visit. We had a pretty relaxing time with them and the Larsons. We drank coffee with Dwight,
I hope your 2007 has made a great start, and that the year only gets better!
p.s. If you're looking for some good winter comfort food, I found some wonderful recipes in the current Sunset Magazine. So far the chicken pot pies and smoky chili are great, and I plan on trying the rest.

Besides buying a new car, the holidays were mighty nice around here. Barb and Larry came for a visit. We had a pretty relaxing time with them and the Larsons. We drank coffee with Dwight,
had some brunch with friends, shared a stomach virus, saw Volver (great movie!), ate lots and lots (though some of us missed out on the traditional maple ring on Christmas day due to said stomach virus), found fancy chocolates and pretentious hot chocolate,
played games, went to the art museum, and of course oohed and aahed over Miss Evie.
Here are the folks as they were about to start their journey back to the midwest on a train. Maybe some day I'll be as adventurous.
I hope your 2007 has made a great start, and that the year only gets better!
