Friday night out these days is pretty mellow. Last night I went out with Becca, Dwight, Bob and Dan (Becca's coworker) for pizza and a movie. We started out at Hot Lip's Pizza, which uses local organic ingredients, and always has some fun pizza special. Last night it was bacon and spinach. That's what I got. Very good, though too much bacon. Pared with a local organic IPA, it was the perfect meal.

Next up, we walked down Hawthorne to Cinemagic and saw An Inconvenient Truth. We're really late seeing this movie because it's more fun to wait for movies to come to the older theaters and see them for cheap. This was our happy pre-movie photo. We were too wrapped up in the movie to remember to take the after shot of us all contemplative-like thinking of global warming. I especially like Cinemagic with it's old comfy rocky seats that creak a lot. They also have very good popcorn with real butter and some yummy toppings.

Becca and I ditched the guys and went out to Vindalho for a drink. It was Don's next to last night of work at Vindalho. Can't belive this is the only photo I have of him behind the bar. He starts back at Giorgio's on Tuesday. Yay! With Don is his friend and fellow bartender Jason.

The company that runs our cafeteria at Reed is doing an Eat Local Challenge (or http://www.eatlocalchallenge.org/website/eatlocal.html) this Tuesday. It's a great idea, and we're lucky in Portland that a number of restaurants and our local grocery stores already think of this as a daily part of their businesses. We try to be aware of what we're purchasing, but it's good to periodically reevaluate and try and do a better job. So I'm going to challenge myself to be ever more conscientious of my purchases. If you're up for the eat local challenge on Tuesday I'd love to see the meals you come up with. Happy eating!

I'm going to do the Eat Local Challenge on Wednesday, if you don't mind, since that's Market Day. Funnily enough, I'd invited a couple of friends over for dinner on Tuesday, but we changed the date for Wednesday, because that way we could eat our fresh market pickins! Some coinky-dink, eh?
