The vending adventure has begun. Don and I ventured out with Dan (who works with Don at Vindalho) and his girlfriend Jess to the Stevenson Bluegrass Festival in beautiful Stevenson, WA. Dan put together a mean chicken teriyaki sandwich, and we had grilled corn, ginger lemonade, pineapple on a stick, and good old potato chips and soda. I didn't get a shot of the sandwich, but here's the chicken staying hot and some of our Washington corn (nothing like the Iowa corn, but that's no surprise, and people around here don't know what they're missing). We were a big hit, and the festival has asked us back for next year. Yay!
Here's our booth, with Don, Dan and Jess. I apparently didn't read the table cloth package very well, they were both supposed to be rectangles, but what can you do. Our friend Heidi graciously made the signs for us only days after she gave birth to a baby boy. It might look like a fly by the seat of your pants operation, but we got a 97.5 score from the health inspector--better than many restaurants. Wee-hew! This shot is also of the last day when we were getting ready to pack up and were tired as all get out.The festival was great fun. We heard lots of good music, including one of our favorites, Hot Buttered Rum, and just enjoyed the beautiful weather.
After the weekend of fun and learning, we'll likely take a break and work on developing this for next year. We had a great time though and are looking forward to trying it again.
