Girl Scouts

Today I joined the Girl Scouts! I was in the volunteering mood when we were at the Woodstock neighborhood picnic a couple weeks back, and there was a woman there asking for Girl Scout volunteers. Tonight I went to a parent meeting (I was the only non-parent) and signed up to be a co-leader of a Brownie troop.

The other leader is very outgoing and should be a lot of fun. The troop doesn't start meeting until October, but there is much training to be done between now and then. Who knew?

you were always a good girl scout! i'm guessing you just missed singing "make new friends, but keep the old ones..." right? also. once i looked into GS volunteering, and they only allowed women under age 25 around here, which i thot odd. unless i made that up, which is possible. regardless, i'm sure you had to fill out some form where they asked if you ever got kicked out of girl scouts for flipping someone off. you know i wouldn't be welcomed with open arms. but, good for you!

Hooray! What fun! How old will the girls in your troop be? Will you teach them to cook stew in aluminum foil packets? Will you show them how to tie a bandana around their heads?

Really happy all the Yerkes girls have started websites/blogs. It makes us all feel connected. Grandma is getting printouts each weekend from Aunt Peg.

I know you'll be a better girl scout leader than I was. I always said my favorite part was the paperwork!

Oh-ho! Them're some lucky girls! By the way, I know a couple of boys who'd LOVE for you to volunteer for their (future) boy scout den...
Hey! How's the Girl Scouting going, anyway?!
